Mrs. Elizabeth Pollat

Elizabeth (Betty) Pence Pollat, 88, of Newcastle, WY, died Sept. 6, 2010 at Weston County Health Services
She was born the youngest daughter, December 10, 1921 in Excelsior Springs, MO to Henry Clay and Ottelo (Pence) George. She was raised on the family homestead south of Upton with her sisters and was educated in country schools finishing at Upton High School.
She married Melvin Lee Pollat Aug. 3, 1939 in Sundance, WY and was blessed with two sets of twins. Melvin and Betty lived most of their married life on the Scott Moore ranch south of Upton until Melvin's death in 1971.
Betty moved to Newcastle in 1972 where she opened up the Newcastle Bible and Book Store until 1980. While running the store she received much encouragement from people of all denominations and hoped that she gave some back. She also helped with the H & R Block Tax Services which later became Rumney Accounting.
She enjoyed her children very much and took great pleasure with her family, friends, and helping others.
Survivors include her sisters Eleanor Quest, Elmorine Chapman; her children Betty Ann (Harold) Honey, Dennis Pollat, Kenneth Pollat; Nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Nancy Ann (Don) Kokesh and grandson Marvin Kokesh.
Funeral services will be held at the Boal Auditorium in Upton at 3:00 with Pastor Randy Fowler officiating. Burial will be at Upton Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 9th at Worden Chapel in Newcastle and from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Boal Auditorium. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Upton Ambulance Fund, Newcastle Senior Services, First Baptist Church of Upton or an organization of the donor's choice.
