Dorothy Lucille Pringle, 90, of Upton, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.
She was born January 5, 1921, outside of Upton, to Lloyd and Myrtle Sims. She attended country school and then Upton High School. Growing up, the family lived in a number of homes around Upton, including the Tupper Place and on Buffalo Creek, south of Upton. As the oldest child, she helped her mother raise some of her 10 younger sisters and brothers.
On October 13, 1937, she married Leonard Hoxie. They had four children, John Mark (Bussy), Patricia Lee (Patty), Thelma Lucille (Tootsie), and Aldon Lloyd. They lived in both Colorado and Wyoming. Following both Patty's and Leonard's deaths, Lucille worked very hard to raise her three children, with the help of her parents.
On March 14, 1961, she married Luther C. Pringle, from Upton. They had two children, Thomas Luther (Tom) and Sherry Lynn. As a family, they lived in Upton. Luther and Lucille continued to make their home in Upton, until Luther's death in 2005. Then, more recently, Lucille lived at Mondell Heights, in Newcastle.
Lucille was active in both her church and her community. She was a long-time, active member of the Upton United Methodist Church. She was member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a star point for many years. She was very actively involved in both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, 4H, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Job's Daughters.
She enjoyed family, friends, cribbage, camping, music (especially polka and country), quilting, sewing, crocheting, and reading. She was a lifelong learner, and learned to both swim and drive, later in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both her husbands, her daughter Patty, five sisters (Ruby Derr, Lois Necker, Patricia Hodapp, Rheta Oleson, and Marianne Sammons), three brothers (Bud, Alan, and Bill Sims).
She is survived by her brother Richard Sims, and her sister Margaret Waterland; her children: Bussy (and Donnel) Hoxie of Anchor Point, Alaska; Tootsie (and Dave) Hollingsworth of Cheyenne, WY; Aldon Hoxie of Kemmerer, WY; Tom (and Laura) Pringle of Cheyenne, WY; Sherry (and Dave) Leinen of Newcastle, WY; her 12 grandchildren: Tricia Hoxie; Mark Hoxie; Travis Hoxie; Morgan Hoxie; Chaunce Hoxie; Jay Mullendore; Scott Mullendore; Walker Hoxie; Asher Hoxie; Miriah (Hoxie) White; Patricia (Leinen) Kachelhoffer; David Leinen: her 14 great-grandchildren: Adam Mullendore; Jared Mullendore; Stephen Mullendore; Jon Jon Hoxie; Annavay Kachelhoffer; Connor King; Katie Hoxie; Mary Roehl; Amy Roehl; Jonathan Hoxie; Erin Hoxie; Michelle Hoxie; Ashley Hoxie; and John Hoxie and her 2 great-great-grandchildren: Trinity Mullendore; and Ashlyn Mullendore.
