Nada Beverly Burns Hodges
Beverly, 79, passed away at Mountain Towers Nursing Home in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on November 22,
2011. She suffered from Dementia.
Beverly was born in Newcastle, Wyoming, in 1932, to the late George and Lois (Cummings) Egge.
Beverly graduated from Newcastle High School and attended a secretarial trade school in Denver,
Colorado. Later Beverly earned an associate's degree from Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington,
Wyoming. Beverly was a caring person who loved to learn and was proud to share her knowledge so
people could obtain their General Educational Development (GED).
Beverly married Robert V. Burns in 1952, making their home in Newcastle, Wyoming. Beverly worked
out of her home for many years while raising children and then put her secretarial skills to use while
being employed by a car dealership in Newcastle, Wyoming.
After Robert's death in 1981, Beverly was employed by a construction company that traveled the United
States. She was their safety officer and earned her Emergency Medical Technician, (EMT). Later Beverly
moved to San Diego to live close to her father, George W Egge. Beverly worked in San Diego as a
property manager for a private firm. In 1996 Beverly and Herman Hodges married and lived together
until Herman's death in 2007.
Beverly's dementia was advancing and she moved back to Wyoming to be closer to family. She lived
with her youngest son Bill Burns in Newcastle, Wyoming, then her oldest son Robert V. Burns Jr. in
Laramie, Wyoming, and eventually in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at Mountain Towers Nursing Home.
Beverly was active in the IOOF, Rebekah's for many years. Beverly joined the Toastmistress Club and
traveled to New York City to represent Wyoming. Beverly was active in the La Paloma Star Chapter,
Order of the Eastern Star, and the Daughters of the Nile.
Beverly is survived by her 3 children, Robert V. Burns Jr., and his wife Jocelyn Burns of Laramie,
Wyoming, LaRayne K. Martel and her husband Jim Martel of Bismarck, North Dakota, and William W.
Burns and his wife Donna Burns of Newcastle, Wyoming, a brother, George W Egge Jr., of Rapid City,
South Dakota. Beverly has 8 grand children and 8 great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Beverly is predeceased in death by Robert V. Burns, husband and Herman Hodges, husband. Her
parents George and Lois Egge, three grandchildren Kyle W. Burns, Cambria Lachey Burns, Joseph
William Burns, and a nephew Dean Egge.
