Anna (Fullerton) Watt was born on December 27, 1919 on the family farm near Atkinson, Nebraska. Anna passed from this life on July 12, 2013 at her home in Upton at the age of 93.
Anna was the seventh of eight children of Robert and Mary (Frane) Fullerton and was raised on the family farm with her brothers and sisters. She attended country school until eighth grade, then went to high school in Atkinson. During her high school years she boarded in town, doing housekeeping to pay for her "board and room". She often spoke of the changes in life that she saw in her 93 years and even though life was hard "back then" it was a good life.
During one of her travels to Wyoming to stay with her brother Homer and his wife Lucille, she met Leslie Watt. She and Les were married on November 2, 1941 in Chadron, Nebraska and this began their life of fifty-four years together. They had three children, Eileen, Lynn and Larry. Shortly after they were married, Les was drafted into the Army. Anna lived with her parents during this time, traveling when she could to the Army camps where Les was stationed.
After Les' discharge they moved to Wyoming where they lived on the family ranch until moving to Upton and continuing to operate the ranch until Les' death in the fall of 1995.
Anna kept very busy with her work as a mother, grandmother, housewife and "ranch hand", helping out with the field work and the sheep. She loved to garden, work in her yards, and was an excellent cook. She continued with these activities after she moved to town, until her health declined and she was not able.
Anna is survived by her sons, Lynn Watt, Larry Watt and wife Sher, and daughter Eileen Schiller, all of Upton. She is also survived by her sister Mary Alice Watt of Upton, brother-in-law Bruce Watt and wife Norma of Laramie, and sister-in-law Lucile Watt of Cheyenne, eight grandchildren and their husbands and wives, and nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, son-in-law Jake Schiller, parents and seven brothers and sisters. Burial was Tuesday morning, July 16th at the Upton Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial services were also by Tuesday at the Upton Community Center. The family encourages memorial contributions to the Upton Ambulance Services.
