Alice McCoy, 103, died Sunday, October 31st at Weston County Health Services, has joined her much loved, much missed husband in the loving arms of our Lord.
She was born April 28, 1907 at Red Fern, South Dakota the daughter of George Tandy and Maude Jane (Bennett) Walker. She married Leander William McCoy on June 30, 1927 and spent the next 83 years raising granddad along with eight children and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grand children. She was been the center of our family for the better part of her 103 years.
She endured the loss of her beloved husband, Lee, in 1979. Grandma Alice also survived beyond her Mother Maude, her father, George, her brothers Leonard and Alvin and her sister Nellie, and sadly, her daughters Mary McCoy, Edith Inich, and Anita Mc Coy.
Today her loss is mourned be her sisters Orice (Chip) Chipman, Laveda Allen and Frances O'Billovich and her brother Howard Walker. Joining them in saying goodbye to a grand lady are her daughters, Alice Marie Smith, Ila Lee Cornelius, Jane Oleson, her sons Kenneth (Kathy) McCoy and Rusty (Patty) Mc Coy and a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and tons of family members both blood and those grandma adopted into the circle of her wonderful loving family.
Alice enjoyed a long full life raising her family, working various jobs to help support her family. She enjoyed caring for people, providing awesome meals for family, friends on the many, many holidays at Grandma's house as well as for the many hunters she cooked for at Ann and Ira's hunting camp every year. She cared for "old" people into her ninety's and worked at the Senior Center and the Travel Center until her dear old knees failed her. In her later years her fondest wish was to make it to 100 years of age and receive her letter from the president, which she did! Afterwards she was content to pass the time until she could join Granddad in the loveing arms of our Lord which now she has.
We will miss her gentle humor and her happy chuckle. She was someone special to everyone who knew her and everyone who had the honor of knowing her was someone special to her. She loved us with all of her heart and we will miss her with all of ours. Goodnight sweet lady.
