ROBERT EDGAR "BOB" WHETHAM WAS BORN 27 OCTOBER 1909 AT THE
FAMILY HOME IN RURAL LYNCH, NEBRASKA TO EDGAR WAND
BLANCHE L PARLIMAN WHETHAM, HE WAS THE SEVENTH CHILD OF
THIRTEEN. HE GREW UP ON THE FAMILY FARM ATTEBNDED THE
RURAL SCHOOLS IN THE COMMUNITIES THEY LIVED IN BOYD AND
HOLT COUNTIES. , HE FREQUENTLY MISSED SCHOOL TO HELP THE
FAMILY BUT HE PERSISTED AND GRADUATED FROM LYNCH, NE HIGH
SCHOOL IN 1930. THE FIRST IN HIS FAMILY TO DO SO.
BOB AND VADA IZORA LONG WERE MARRIED ON 29 SEPT 1930 AT
BURKE, SD. THEY BECAME FARMERS AND LIVED ON SEVERAL IN BOYD
AND HOLT COUNTIES UNTIL 1945 WHEN THE HELD A FARM AUCTION.
BOB WAS EMPLOYED BY THE STATE OF NEBRASKA TRANSPORTAl ON
DEPARTMENT, WORKED A STAR MAIL ROUTE SUVSTITUTE MAIL
CARRIER AND ODD JOBS UNTIL HE BECAME EMPL YOYED BY
NEBRASKA PUBLIC POWER AT THE HYDRO PLANT ON THE NIOBRARA
RIVER SEVEN NILES SOUTH OF SPENCER, NE AS AN OPERATOR. HE
RETIRED IN 1974. BOB AND VADA MOVED TO BRISTOW NEBRASKA AND
WHILE VADA WAS STILL TEACHING HE BUSIED·HIMSELF WITH A
BICYCLE SHOP, GARDENING AND ODD JOBS TO KEEP BUSY., BOB AND
VADA TRAVELED IN THE SUMMERS VISITING AMIL Y AND
SIGHTSEEING. THEY ATTEND BOTH SEATTLE AND MONTREAL WORLD
FAIRS. THEY LOVED TO DANCE AND RARELY MISSED ONE. THEY
TOOK A RIDE SOMEPLACE EVERYDA Y WEATHER PERMITTING. BOB
PLA YED THE VIOLIN, ACCORDIAN PlANA AND HARMONICA. HE
AMASSED AHUGE MUSIC COLLECTIONAFTER BOB WAS A MEMBER OF
THE ELKS LODGE IN YANKTON, SD FOR MANY YEARS. THE COUPLE
WERE MEMBERS OF THE TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN BRISTOW, NE
AND BOB STILL IS. VADA PASSED IN 1999, BOB REMAINED IN BRISTOW
UNTIL 2002 WHEN HE HELD ANOTHER AUCTION AND MOVED TO
NEWCASTLE WY TO BE NEAR FAMILY. UNTIL THAT TIME THE COUPLE
HAD LIVED IN A RADIUS OF 100 MILES.
TO THIS UNION 5 CHILDREN WERE BORN"MAXINE (MORT) ( DECEASED)

GRANDCHILDREN AND 16 GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN
BOB WAS ALWAYS INTERESTED IN THE FAMILY HISTORY AND FAMILY
REUNIONS. HE STARTED ONE IN 1969 AT THE HOME PLACE IN LYNCH
NE AND THEY WERE HELD ANNUALLY UNTIL IN THE 1990S1
BOB WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH IN ADDITION TO THOSE LISTED
PREVIOUSLY: TWO GRANDSONS LELAND KAUL AND DUANE
WHETHAM" AN INFANT BABY BROTHER" SISTERS SUSAN, EDITH AND
JOE SLECHTA, ACE AND MARY FULLER, BROTHERS: JOE AND ALICE,
TED AND EMMA, JOHN AND TILLIE, GILBERT, HERB AND ROSE, ROY,
BROTHER-IN-LA W DALE ORR.
