Mr. Louis Johnson

June 30, 1925 — March 10, 2011

Louis William Johnson was born on June 30, 1925 in Crow Agency, Montana to Lee and Grace (Cable) Johnson. Louis went to grade school there and later the family moved to the Moorcroft-Rozet, Wyoming area. Louie went to high school in Rozet, and played basketball on their championship team.
In 1943 when he was 18 years old, Louie quit high school and joined the U.S.
Navy. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.
After leaving the military, Louie went to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he went to barber college. He graduated from barber college in October of 1948, and moved to Newcastle, Wyoming in 1949.
Louie met Gladys Roberson at a dance in Custer, South Dakota, in 1950. Gladys and Louie were married on November 10, 1951. Over the years, they lived In Newcastle, and raised their two children, Rick and Debra.
While his children were growing up, Louie loved camping trips with his family most of all. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son-in-law, his grandsons, and his brothers. He loved bowling, and for several years he bowled on the leagues in Newcastle. He was an avid pool player, and one the best pool shots in the Weston County area. He was a member of the V.F. W., and the N .R.A.
Louie loved barbering in Newcastle, and served the community barbering for fifty years- from 1949 until July of 1999. He loved his work, and he loved and was well known for telling stories about his hunting and fishing experiences.
He loved spending time with his son, grandsons and his son -in- law. He also hunted and fished with a lot of good friends. He was a great man, and will be missed by many.
Louis is survived by- his son Rick (Sherrie) Johnson, Rawlins, WY - his daughter Debra (Jack) Loebs , Newcastle, WY- Three grandsons - Bart (Pennie) Loebs , Newcastle, WY - Beau Loebs , Superior, Wisconsin - and Blaze (Alexis Shultz) Loebs, Newcastle, WY - Three grandchildren - Laurie, Chase, and Jordyn Loebs-
and one sister, Jessie Duvall of Gillette, WY.
Louie was preceded in death by the love of his life, loving wife, Gladys in 1993, his parents, one sister, and three brothers.
The family prefers memorial contributions to Weston County Home Health Services. Contributions may be sent to 433 Willard Ave., Newcastle, WY. Mr. Johnson died Thursday, March 10th at Custer Senior Care Services in Custer, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Worden Chapel. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Worden Chapel. Burial will follow services in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newcastle, Wyoming.
