Louis W. Friday, 89, of Newcastle, Wyoming died Wednesday, April 24th at Weston County Health Services. Cremation has taken place under direction of Worden Funeral Directors. Private family interment services will be conducted at a future date in Oklahoma.
He was born September 7, 1923 at Crescent, Oklahoma the son of George and Mary (Farley) Friday. He was the youngest of four sons and grew up on the family farm. He attended school in Crescent graduating from high school there. In 1942, he joined the Army Air Corps and served through 1946 as a radio operator and a bombsite mechanic in World War II. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Corporal.
Louis married Delores in 1952 and they were parents of a son Ronald in 1953 and daughter Debra in 1955. When they parted in 1958, Louis moved to Wyoming where he worked for several oil companies as a driller and tool pusher.
Louis met and married Rena Galyean in Sheridan, Wyoming in 1961. Rena's children Russell, Jody and Lucy became a part of Louis' family. They lived in Rawlins Wyoming until he retired fro Baker Hughes in 1988. Through the years Louis lived or worked in Gillette, Newcastle, and Sundance, Wyoming and in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Mr. Friday enjoyed hunting and gardening, especially his special roses. He was an avid fisherman and camper, cooking his fish on the open fire. He loved old time country music from artists like Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, Hank Williams, Sr. and Marty Robbins.
In 2008, Louis moved into Mondell Heights where he was surrounded by friends who enjoyed his stories and loved his humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, wife Rena and son Ron.
Survivors include his children Deb Rudibush of Yukon, OK, Russell Galyean of Farmington, NM, Jody Dahlke of Upton, WY and Lucy Howerter of Walla Walla, WA; also surviving are eight grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
