Mr. Lloyd Bailey Jr

Memorial services for Upton resident Lloyd F. Bailey, Jr., 74, were held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 3rd at the Laverne C. Boal Auditorium with Mike Dodd as officiant. Eulogist was Reuben Ritthaler. Private interment at the Upton Greenwood Cemetery followed services under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle. The family asks that memorial donations be given for education of the donor's choice.
Mr. Bailey died unexpectedly Monday, March 29th at his home.
Lloyd was born July 4, 1935 in Denver, Colorado the son of Lloyd F. & Mary E. (Williams) Bailey. In 1955 he enlisted in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany where he met and married Ellen W. Neubert. He received his BA degree in 1964 and his MA in counseling in 1967. In 1984 he received his EDS in School Administration from the University of Wyoming. He started his teaching career in Westminster, Colorado where he taught for nine years. Following that, he was employed in the Rapid City School system as assistant director of the Black Hills Workshop, and later as school psychologist for the Leada�"Deadwood School system. He was then employed in Laramie, Wyoming until 1985 when he went to work for Weston County School District as Special Education Director and school psychologist. In 1990 he was named Superintendent for the Upton School District until his retirement in 1998.
Lloyd loved all animals, especially his birds. He traveled all of the United States to show them.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Ellen; son Lloyd III (Barb) and his three boys Christopher, Alec and Graham all of Freeland, MI; Daughter SuEllen (John) Strong and her three girls, Debbie Messmer of South Dakota, Melissa (Jerry) Ragsdale of Casper, WY and Jenny Strong of Upton, WY and her son Jerex John; and youngest son Dale (Deborah) and his three children Ryan (currently stationed in Iraq), Michael and Hannah of West Richland, WA. Also surviving are two brothers David A. (Mary) of Platteville, CO, nephew Troy (Jill) also of Platteville, CO, and Donald (Janet) of Westminster, CO.
