Jon Patrick Wermers, 41, of Newcastle, died Saturday, November 10th, in Denver, CO.
Jon was born November 9th, 1971 in Deadwood, South Dakota, to Terry and Joy Wermers. He attended high school in Lead, South Dakota where he graduated in 1990. After high school Jon attended WyoTech in Laramie, WY where he obtained an auto body technician degree and UTI in Phoenix, AZ where he obtained a degree for automotive and diesel mechanics.
On July 29th, 1995 he married his high school sweetheart, Jeanette Tridle. Jon, along with his family resided in several places including Pierre, South Dakota, Littleton, Colorado, and Spearfish, South Dakota until they moved to Newcastle, Wyoming in 2007. Jon's hobbies included Jeeping, camping, the outdoors, working on vehicle projects with his sons and spending time with his family. Jon was employed as a mechanic at Arch Coal Mining Company. He was involved in many off-road organizations, the Weston County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, and was the past director of the South Dakota Off Hi-way Vehicle Coalition.
Jon was an amazing husband, father, and an inspiration to everyone whose lives he touched. His love overflowed for his wife, children, family, friends, and Jeeps. He had an infectious laugh and a strong love for taking people jeeping and inspiring a passion for the sport. Jon spent the last hours of his life surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren enjoying the company and making memories.
Survivors include his loving wife Jeanette Wermers Newcastle WY, two sons Justin Wermers, Gillette, WY and Tanner Wermers Newcastle, WY , and three daughters AnnaLynn Wermers Newcastle,WY, Lizzi (Chris) Martin Lakewood, CO and Stephanie (Derek) Guerin Aurora, CO, his parents Terry and Joy Wermers Lead, SD, his god daughter Jaelyn Neville of Rapid City, SD; his in-laws Joyce and Carl Schmuck Eau Claire, WI, and Jon and Deb Tridle Lead, SD sister, Terri (Josh) Brown Edgemont, SD, brother, Scott (Cheryl) Wermers Phoenix, AZ, his brother in-law Trevor Tridle Spearfish, SD, and two sister in-laws Lisa (Mark) Blake Cedar Rapids, IA and Lori (Scott) Tschetter Fond du Lac, WI grandmother, Loretta Wermers Spearfish, SD, and grandchildren Arabella, Madrox, and AnnaMarie Martin, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jon is preceded in death by his grandfather Joe Wermers, grandmother Lorretta Rilling, and grandfather Richard Rilling.
Visitation will be held in Newcastle, WY at Worden Funeral Home from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, November 16, 2012.
Services to honor Jon's life will be 10 am, Saturday, November 17th, 2012 at Weston County Senior Center in Newcastle, WY. A grave side burial at Greenwood Cemetery and reception at the Weston County Senior Center and will follow.
Pallbearers will be Justin Wermers, Tanner Wermers, Lee Ashiem, Doug Eidsness, Josh Brown, Todd Zick, Doug Hinkle, Trevor Tridle and Honorary Pallbearer Scott Wermers.
