John Daigh, 93, of Newcastle, WY died Sunday June 19th at Rapid City Regional
Hospital.
He was born December 10, 1917 in Nance County, NE to William (Billy) Daigh
and Sylvia (Hammond) Daigh. He was educated in Ogallala, NE and worked for Washa
Oil Company. In February of 1941 he enlisted in the Army and served with the 134th
Infantry Regiment in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany.
On July 12, 1942 he married Iline Potter in Ogallala, NE. The couple traveled
from one coast to the other until he got out of the service in October 1945. He owned his
own mechanic shop before going to work for Continental Oil Company for 34 years.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW serving different offices. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, camping with his family and friends, going south for the winter, and doing yard
work.
Survivors include his wife Iline Daigh of Newcastle, 4 sons; Wayne (Charlotte)
Daigh of Newcastle, WY, Robert (Sharon) Daigh of Wright, WY, Leslie (LuAnn) Daigh
of Boyd, TX, and James (Kari) Daigh of Newcastle, WY, 7 grandchildren; Sheila (Mike)

Gregory, Cindy (Joe) Corley, Darbie (John) Moss, Aimee Daigh, Laurri (Kevin) Perrin,
Carrie Hansen, and Justin Daigh, 8 great grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, 8 step grandchildren,
15 great step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Jerry Wayne Daigh, and 1 grandson
David Wayne Daigh, 1 great grandson Landon Hansen, and triplet great grandchildren
Lucas, Brooke, and Payton Hansen.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at Black Hills National
Cemetery.
Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle were in charge of the arrangements.
