October 30, 1922 — October 13, 2012

Jimmy Hiram Decker, 89, died Saturday, October 13th at the Hot Springs, S.D. VA Hospital 16 days shy of his 90th Birthday.

He was born October 30, 1922 on the homestead 40 miles SE of Gillette, WY to George and Fannie (Allen) Decker. He lived on the homestead until 1929, where he and his family moved to Greybull, Wyoming.

At the age of 14, he left home and worked at various ranches throughout the State of Wyoming. Jimmy married the love of his life and soul mate, Ruth Francis Norris on February 7, 1943 in Greybull. They celebrated 67 years together.

Jimmy was a proud veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army from July 8, 1943 to October 15, 1945. He worked for Fusners Dairy, Burlington Northern Railroad and retired from Dresser Industries. He was a talented carpenter, building many houses around Greybull. Later in his life he followed the footsteps of his father and was the minister for the Church of God of Prophecy in Worland, WY.

In 2008, Jimmy and Ruth moved to Newcastle, where they lived with their daughter. He enjoyed reading the Bible, playing the guitar, working on houses, and taking care of his pets. He liked to make people laugh and always had the little twinkle in his eyes. He took great pleasure in his family and church.

Survivors include; son Bob (Amy) Decker of Casper, WY and daughter Robin Larson of Newcastle; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, niece Dena Rae (Homer) Thompson of Greybull, WY and three very special dogs, Sugar, Pepper, and Chiquita.
