James Joseph Pisciotti, Sr. died at Weston County Health Services on Wednesday, May 4th. He was born in Cambria, Wyo. to James C. and Maggie (Podio) Pisciotti.
Jim graduated from Newcastle High School in 1943 and joined the Navy later that same year. While in the Navy he was a gunner's mate on the U.S.S. Rocky Mount during World War II. In 1946 he returned to Wyoming and attended the University of Wyoming graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Science in 1950.
While working at JC Penny's in Rapid City, SD he met co-worker, Charlotte "Irene" Odden who became the love of his life. They married on February 19, 1952 in Hill City, SD at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. They had five children and raised four grandchildren after their daughter died of cancer. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and woodworker. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife.
During his years in Newcastle, Jim owned J & H Shoe Store with his brother-in-law Hap Metz, worked at the Old Mill and refinery before selling insurance for Farm Bureau where he spent most of his working years. He was involved with the Knights of Columbus, VFW, Lion's Club and served two terms as president of the Newcastle Country Club.
His uplifting humor, kindness and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Tess Metz, daughter Bunny McGraw, son Dustin (McGraw) Pisciotti and granddaughter Desiree McGraw.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Irene; sons Jim Jr. (Lourdes) of Crain, Ind.; Gordon (Darla) of Red Feather Lakes, Col.; Tony (Denice) of Newcastle and Todd of Newcastle; grandchildren Dixie McGraw of Rapid City, SD; Darla (Randall) Nielson of La Barge, Wyo, Deb McGraw of Casper, Wyo.; Michelle (Steve) Rutz of Chicago, Ill; Johnathan (Candy) Pisciotti of Laramie, Wyo.; Angela (Tim) Armijo; Melissa Pisciotti of Richmond, VA; Kolby Pisciotti of Newcastle; Stephanie Francis of Jacksonville, Fla; Brooke Francis of Newcastle; Jennie (Justin) Wermers of Mesa, Arizona; Justin Francis of Newcastle; Madison (Sean) Peterson; Nick Pisciotti of Laramie; Chelsee Pisciotti of Newcastle; and Mason Pisciotti of Newcastle; great-grandchildren Justin and Dakota Zaiser; Garrett, Paige and Owen Nielson; Addisyn, Jaelyn and Aftyn Armijo; Jude Pisciotti; NovaLee Francis; Caprice and Jace Wermers and Colter Fisher; and nephew Ron Metz of Prescott, Arizona.
