Graveside services and military funeral honors for Jack W. Chapman, 83, will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 10 a.m., at Greenwood Cemetery in Upton with Rev. Gene Hagerman officiating. Immediately following the services there will be a reception at the Upton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at FirsTier Bank in Upton in memory of Jack Chapman. The memorial will be given to the Upton Fire Department and Ambulance Service. Worden Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chapman died Saturday, June 19, 2010 peacefully at home.

Jack W. Chapman was born August 22, 1926, south of Upton at his folks homestead, the son to Walter L. Chapman and Mary E. Chapman where he lived until 1938 when the family moved to a ranch north of Upton where he lived until 1948. Jack graduated from Upton High School and enlisted in the US Air Force from 1944 to late 1946. He married Louise Harvey in 1948 and they had 1 son Jack W. Chapman Jr. (Jerry), born August 20, 1949. Jack and Louise divorced in 1953. In 1955, Jack took his son and parents to California. Jack married Georgianna M. Perkins on January 4, 1961. They lived in El Cajon, California where he ran heavy equipment for the Operating Engineers. In May 1979, Jack and Georgianna moved back to Upton where he had a welding repair business for 20 years. In retirement, Jack did small jobs for friends and keeping lawn mowers and other small things that needed doing for friends around town. As a pastime, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jack is survived by his two stepsons, Ronald L. Perkins and his wife Patricia Perkins of League City, Texas, and Donald L. Perkins of Alpine, California. Two step grandchildren and four great step grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Richard Chapman of El Cajon, California, one sister-in-law Dorothy Chapman of Sheridan, Wyoming, and several relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Georgianna Chapman; parents, Walter and Mary Chapman; son Jack Chapman Jr,; brother, Harold Chapman, sister Mary E. Chapman, and sister-in-law Patricia Chapman.
