Homer M. Berdahl, 92, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Rapid Regional Hospital.
He was born January 16, 1924 the son of Henry and Martha Berdahl in Garretson, SD. The family lived in Sioux Falls, SD where he graduated from high school. He loved being in the marching band as a drummer. Following his graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1941. He was an ensign in the U.S. Naval Air Force. He served in the Atlantic Fleet as a pilot. Following his discharge he moved with his parents to Newcastle in 1945. He married Naomi "Peggy" Yvonne Kline in 1947.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Erick and Steward Berdah, sister Julia Simon and son Larry Berdahl. Surviving him are his wife Naomi, daughters Julia (Darrold) Kerlin, Myra (Terry) Gunnick and Beverly (Dwayne) Steel; sons Michael (Donna) Berdahl, Duane (Susan) Berdahl; several grandchildren and fifty three great grandchildren.
Homer was a very talented making furniture and carving. He was a man of many talents. He was and is loved deeply by his family and friends. We will miss his whistling stories and happy loving nature.
