Memorial services for Gene A. Holwell, 80, of Osage, WY will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 18th At Worden Chapel with Pastor Mick Bohn of Newcastle Foursquare Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle.
Gene died Friday, June 11, 2010 At Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.
Mr. Holwell was born June 11, 1930 at Osage, Wyoming the son of James H. and Zella G. (Johnson) Holwell. Gene was educated in Osage and Newcastle schools and attended the University of Wyoming for one year. He served in the U. S. Navy as a Sea Bee operating heavy equipment in the Philippines and Japan. Following his return home he was employed by Holwell Drilling with his father and brothers before eventually taking over management and operation of the business.
Surviving him is a sister-in-law Esley (Childs) Holwell of Casper, WY; nephews Carlos (Cindy) Holwell of Ohio, Casey (Rosa) Holwell of Ohio; nieces Jenness (John) Holwella�"Steinmetz of Fort Laramie, WY, and Carey (Mel) Holwella�"Hamilton of Casper, WY. Also surviving are eight great nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers Milton J. Holwell, Hugh (Margie) Holwell, and R. Quinton (Elsie) Holwell.
