Friends and loved ones of Gary James Jones may have seen a brighter star shining in the heavens as "Jones took his last ride" (Gary's words) on April 14, 2012 in Newcastle, WY. Those who knew him also knew that he did not give up on anything or anyone easily and this journey was no exception. As always, his wife Joyce, his son Collin and his "daughter" in law Debbie were at his side.
Gary was born June 26, 1940 in Miles City, MT. His home town was Moorcroft, WY where he excelled in academics, basketball, making friends and living life large. Gary captured the heart of Joyce Schneider in Newcastle and they were married on July 3, 1958. Their marriage was blessed by the birth of their sons Collin and Steven. Wyoming has always been home. Throughout the years Gary and Joyce lived in Moorcroft, Casper and Sheridan, after retirement, they moved to Newcastle where it all began for them.
Family was Gary's main interest although he also loved boating, hunting WY and putting in a hard day of work for an honest man's dollar. He and Joyce started Gary's Standard Station in Moorcroft in the early 60's and he went on in later years to other adventures with Tri-County Electric, Black Hills Bentonite, Gulf Explosives, Chemlink and Decker Coal.
Gary will be met at heaven's gate by his father Ed, his mother Jo and his big brother Ron. Gary waited a long time to get a "daughter" of his own but he got a bonus when Collin and Debbie were married, he will be missed by grandchildren, Mike and Miranda, Mashell and Jeff, and four GREAT grandchildren all of Casper, WY. He is also survived by his brother Bob and his sister Sherry Jo, his extended family and many friends who each know where they were in his heart.
Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 23 N.Seneca in Newcastle at 1:00 pm Friday April 20, 2012.
