Montanye Walker

Montanye "Monty" Walker, age 84, a resident of Clawson for the past year, former resident of Metamora, Royal Oak, Brighton, and Kalkaska passed away peacefully February 14, 2014 at his residence in Clawson. He was born May 31, 1929 in Oakland Township. Monty was a founding member of Green Oak Township Fire Department; he was also one of the first fire arson inspectors for Livingston County. He worked for and retired from Ford Motor Company 33-1/3 years. Monty was a member of the 24th Michigan N.S.S.A. North-South Skirmish Association for nearly 52 years. He loved to golf, bowl, and admire antique cars. His love for playing golf continued up until the age of 84; he golfed 18 holes on Labor Day in 2013. He was the dear husband of Eileen M. King-Arwine whom he married May 14, 1988 in Clawson. Monty was the loving father of Dennis the late Deb Walker, Darlyne David McCullen, Suzanne Daniel Johnson, Gerald Arwine, Rose Filbey, Edward Mark Arwine, David Rebecca Arwine and the late David J.C. Walker, Darryl Walker, Daniel survived by Donna Walker, and Charles Arwine Jr. Monty was the proud grandfather of 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Oliver Clare the late Gretta Adams Walker and the late Catherine Harold Duckert. Monty was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Jane Hubbard along with his parents Oliver Clare and Allie Mae DeLaMontanye Walker. The visitation will be Tuesday 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. with scripture service at 7:30 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Instate Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass 10:30 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Clawson. The burial will take place at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Oakland Township.
