Mildred Grabda, age 94, a resident of Farmington Hills, formerly of Oak Park, died November 13, 2012 at Clare Bridge of Farmington Hills. She was born March 9, 1918 to the late Frank and Frances Markowski. Mrs. Grabda was born and raised in Alpena, Michigan, where she lived on a farm until her teenage years. She moved to the Detroit area around the age of twenty and worked at a department store. She married her first husband, Richard Strombeck, who died in a drowning accident and then met and married her second husband, Henry Grabda, who preceded her in death in 1994. For most of her life she was a homemaker. She loved to tend her roses and travel. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harry Flo Martin, Elmer Gwen Martin, Buddy Martin, Sam Margaret Martin, Paul Margaret Martin and Howard Jane Martin; and sisters, Rose Harry Burton, Betty Douglas Wright and Irene Fradette. The visitation will be Thursday 3-8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Rosary at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. Grabda will lie in state Friday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Oak Park, with the Rev. Paul Chateau officiating.
