Michael R. "Big Mike" Willhite, age 53, a 27-year resident of Royal Oak, died September 9, 2009 at his home. He was born August 10, 1956 in Detroit. Mr. Willhite was employed with the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Department for 22 years. He was a life member of the Red Wing MC Club of Mount Clemens and of the Car Gang of Royal Oak. He was the head crew chief of Fast Company Motor Sports #71 at Auto City Speedway in Flint. He was also a 1974 graduate of Berkley High School. He is survived by his wife, Sandy M. Sirgany Willhite, whom he married June 9, 1979 in Farmington Hills; his children, Christopher M. Willhite and Daniel J. Willhite, both of Royal Oak; parents, Jerry and Donna Willhite of St. Helen, MI; siblings, Mary Welemirov of Madison Heights and David Mareva Willhite of St. Helen; one niece, one nephew, one great niece and Mr. Willhite's dog, Zeus, which the family refers to as their grandson. The visitation will be held Friday 5-8 p.m. and Saturday 2-8 p.m. with the service Sunday 11 a.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak.
