Michael James Thomas Kerr, age 60, a 10-year resident of Rochester Hills, formerly of Rochester, died September 9, 2009 at his home. He was born August 20, 1949 in Detroit. Mr. Kerr worked at William Beaumont Hospital, Havenwick, St. John Hospital and the Brighton school district in environmental services. He was in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Sault Saint Marie Chippewa Indian tribe. Every Memorial Day, he walked with his brothers in the Memorial Day parade, as both a veteran and as a member of the Chippewa Indian tribe. Mr. Kerr's hobbies included time with his family and friends, and as a proud member of the Rams Horn Breakfast Club. He was also a member of the Stagecrafters and was involved in the production of "A Christmas Card". In addition, he was a connoisseur of classic movies. He is survived by his children, Gwen Kerr of Royal Oak and Colleen Stowe of Royal Oak; siblings, Anne Thomas Cross of Birmingham, Tom Patricia Kerr of Royal Oak, Harvey Anne Kerr of Rochester Hills, David Pam Kerr of Royal Oak, John Peggy Kerr of Livonia and Paul Kerr of Clarksville, IN; grandson, Owen Stowe of Royal Oak; the mother of his children, Linda Kerr of Royal Oak; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Kerr was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore R. and Rena M. Kerr; and siblings, Fr. Robert T. Kerr and Renee Kerr Sawson. The visitation will be held Saturday 4-7 p.m. and Sunday 2-8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. Kerr will lie in state Monday 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass 10 a.m. at St. Columban Catholic Church, 1775 Melton, in Birmingham.
