Michael L. Harper, age 78, of Royal Oak, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2008. Beloved husband of Janet M. Seery for 51 years. Loving father of Michael, Linda Sargent, Joseph, and Laurie Scott Claeys and dear brother of Richard N. Harper of Beverly Hills. Devoted to seven grandchildren Heather, Amy, Leslie, Carolyn, Zachery, Aaron and Alex and two great-grandchildren Lexis and Damien. Mike was born in Oshawa, Ontario and raised in Detroit, where he attended Catholic Central High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, from which he was honorably discharged in 1959 with the rank of Sergeant. He and Janet married on October 12, 1957 and lived in Royal Oak, where Mike was an active member of the Shrine of the Little Flower parish. Mike attended Wayne State University, while working and raising his family, and graduated in 1964. He was employed for 29 years by the Stroh Brewery Company in Detroit as Communications Director, and retired as business manager from Shrine High School. Mike's many interests included spending time with his family, reading, traveling, and difficult crossword puzzles. His wisdom, counsel, warm smile and clever wit will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. Memorial visitation Thursday from 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at Wm.
