Mayme Stewart

Funeral services for Newcastle resident Mayme L. Stewart, 91, are scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, February 1st at Worden Chapel with Rev. Edwin Coates of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions towards Life Line of Weston County in lieu of flowers.
Mrs. Stewart died Saturday, January 27th at Weston County Health Services.
Mayme was born July 3, 1915 in Newell, South Dakota the daughter of Martin and Lena Ivarsen Johnson. Mrs. Stewart was raised in Newell and graduated from Newell High School.
She married Clark R. Stewart in 1939. She and her husband owned and operated the Gambles Hardware Store in Newcastle from the 1940?s until they retired in 1979.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, and was a Cub Scout den leader.
Mayme is survived by her son Gayle and daughter-in-law Donna Stewart and two grandchildren, David and Katie.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and one sister.
