Mary C. Tobin, age 63, of Royal Oak, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2014.
Loving mother of Meghan and Emily. Beloved daughter of the late Charles and Alberta Dineen. Dear sister of Nora Gary McMullen, Chuck Stacie Dineen and the late Elizabeth "Biddy" Dineen. Aunt of Corey and Maura. Grandmother to Puddin. Mary was born on St. Patrick's Day in Niagara Falls, NY. She moved to Royal Oak, MI when she was 14 years old and attended Shrine High School. She worked as a dietary aide at Beaumont Hospital until the birth of her first child, Meghan, in 1975. In 1980 she was blessed with her second little girl, Emily.
She was a very caring and generous woman. Proud of both her Lithuanian & Irish heritage, Mary was always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She loved gardening & baking and enjoyed Irish music & going out with "her gang". And as everyone knows, she loved her Detroit Tigers and MSU Spartans. Loved by all who knew her, Mary was an anchor in so many peoples' lives. This is especially true in the case of her mother, Abbey whom she took care of in her later years. Devoted daughter, loving mother, dear sister & aunt. Care giver. Neighbor. Friend. Mary' s smile and warm heart will be missed by all whose lives she touched. The visitation will be Friday 2-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mary will lie in state Saturday 11:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass 12 noon at the National Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak. Memorials to ASPCA are appreciated.
