Mary Lucinda Robb Hanson died at Angela Hospice in Livonia on January 13, 2010, following a courageous faith driven battle with cancer. Mary was born and raised in Howell, lived in New Jersey for 20 years, then returned to Michigan. She is survived by her two children, Kira Martha Peter Wick Hanson and Harry Claudia Hanson, as well as her brother, James Robb. Mary graduated from Marygrove College with a degree in Speech and Drama and traveled to Lima, Peru where she did missionary work for a year after graduation. Upon returning to the United States, she settled in Detroit where she met her husband, Harry Hanson III, when they both worked in the theatre. They moved to New Jersey in 1966 and had two children. Mary received a Master's degree from Kean College in Early Childhood Development and began teaching preschool and kindergarten as her children reached school age. She was also a successful dramatic actress and very active in pro-life volunteer work. Following a divorce Mary moved back to Michigan in 1988 and continued her volunteer work with Right to Life of Michigan. The visitation will be Sunday 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mary will lie in state Monday 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 12 noon at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak. A private burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Howell.
