In the early morning of Oct 6, 2008 Mary L. Davis Shannon, of Newcastle, WY, said goodbye to life in this world. She died of natural causes in the Weston County Hospital. Mary was born Nov. 20, 1921 in Newcastle, WY, and grew up in Rocky Point, WY.
She married Rodney L. Davis, of Moorcroft, WY, in 1941 in Tacoma, WA and then spent most of her adult life in Newcastle, where she was a cosmetologist and a tireless volunteer at the Weston County Manor and Mondell Hts. She was a star bowler for many years and took home many a trophy.
Mary was a "mom, grandma or friend" to anybody one who needed one, and was always ready with a hug & kiss.
Mary is survived by her Son Gary A. Davis and his wife, Carol, of Rapid City, SD, grandsons Shawn A. Davis of Mitchell, SD, Gary K. Davis of Blythe, CA, and granddaughter Shelly Starr of Box Elder, SD. Mary has eight great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and five of her six children.
Cremation will take place prior to Memorial Services to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at the Worden Funeral Home Chapel in Newcastle, WY. Pastor Mick Bohn of Newcastle Foursquare Church will officiate. Burial will be with her husband in the Black Hills National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a memorial gift to the Weston County Manor, where Mary enjoyed so much of her time.
