Funeral liturgy for Martha Pearl Lines, 96, will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, October 1st at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Fr. Phil Wagner and Deacon Ken Pitlick as celebrants. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle under direction of Worden Funeral Directors. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Special Fund. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 30th at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
Martha passed away on September 26, 2009 at Weston County Manor.
Mrs. Lines was born June 8, 1913 at the Koski family home on the Prairie to Michael Joseph and Severa Pzinski Koski. As a young girl she attended Pine Grove or Horton school in the fall and the Rockwell school in the winter. After their home burned in 1921 the family moved to Newcastle, where she graduated from Newcastle High School in 1932. Martha attended Normal School Training and received her certificate to teach from the State of Wyoming Department of Education on September 1, 1932. She taught at rural schools in Crook, Niobrara and Weston Counties and was Superintendent of Kitty Moats School in Osage.
On July 17, 1939 she married Francis Bud Clark. The Couple lived in Osage, WY until 1942, and then moved to Boise, Idaho. Bud passed away January 25, 1952. Martha married Charlie E. Lines, June 4, 1962. The couple resided in Meridian, Idaho, until Charlie's death on November 24, 1993. Martha moved to Newcastle, in 1997 to live with her sister, Genevieve. She entered Weston County Manor in February, 2009.
While living in Idaho, Martha was an active member in the Catholic Church and Women of the Moose. Upon moving back to Newcastle she has been active, until entering Weston County Manor, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church & CCW, Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW, Artful Gals, Homemakers, Fancy Workers and a volunteer at the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce.
She enjoyed gardening, bead work, crocheting. Always giving of her time and talents where needed.
Survivors include two sisters, Genevieve Roan, Newcastle and Katherine Bjorklund and husband Guy, of Thermopolis. Even though Martha did not have children of her own, she cherished her 13 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces and nephews and many great-great- nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Sisters Dorothy, Victoria and Valarie and one brother Michael Koski.
