Marjorie Louise Prewitt passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Arbor Hospice on January 2, 2012. Her last months were spent the way she lived her life; telling stories, playing the harmonica, and reassuring those who loved her that she was looking forward to this next adventure. Marj lived life to the fullest. She was born and raised in Berkley, Michigan; the proud daughter of two school teachers, Helen and William Prewitt. Her only sibling, Bill William was her mentor and her buddy. He survives with his wife, Jan and their daughter, Mary Lynne. Most of Marj's life was spent raising 5 children: Kathy, Sandy, John Clay, Sue and Nancy. Kathy Terry Braciszewski of Brighton is the proud mother of 6 children: Evan, Mara, Victor, Hunter, Luis and Markin. Sandy Wayne Bro of Grand Rapids share 3 children, Taylor Sarah, Aliza Mark Hekman and Lucas. Clay Kalter Carolyn lives in Minneapolis with his daughters, Olivia and Mia. Susan Phil Winn resides in Atlanta with Connor, Madison and McKenzie. Nancy Mark Kalter-Dills of Berkeley, CA is the mother of 2 girls, Madeline and Lucy. In total, Marj was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren. She played harmonica in the Troy Band "The Mouth Organ Grinders" and worked for many years at the Troy Library where she established many long and loving friendships. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Road 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at noon. At her request, her body was donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arbor Hospice or the Troy Public Library.
