Marion R. "Mike" Sibille, age 85, a resident of Royal Oak, died December 23, 2009 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born January 11, 1924 in Muskegon. Mr. Sibille served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was assigned to duty in New Guinea. He received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Michigan and a master's degree from Wayne State University. His journalistic career included work at The Daily Tribune, the former Detroit Times, and in the public relations arena at Wayne State University, from which he retired in 1987. Following his retirement he did freelance work for the Muskegon Chronicle. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church of Royal Oak. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Sibille, whom he married June 30, 1951 in Muskegon; children, James Sibille of Temple, TX and Anne E. Sibille of Troy; sisters, Virginia Dykema and Amelia Sibille, both of Muskegon; grandchildren, Elliott Sibille of Temple, TX and Dustin Sibille of Troy; three great grandchildren; a special niece, Anita Anderson of Muskegon, and a number of great nieces and nephews. Mr. Sibille was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother, a grandson and two nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday 11 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 12 noon at the First Congregational Church of Royal Oak, with the Rev. John Miller officiating.
