Margaret Jane Labadie, age 82, of Huntington Woods, died peacefully on January 3, 2014 at her home. She was born June 17, 1931 to the late Daniel and Helen Mulhern. Margaret was born and raised on the east side of Detroit; she graduated in 1949 from Annunciation High School in Detroit. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Oak Park. She was most proud of being married to Bert and of her large, loving family. The couple married May 22, 1954 at the Church of the Nativity in Detroit. The couple moved to Inkster in 1955; they raised eight children there and, starting in 1964, in Huntington Woods. She is survived by her children, James Helen, Peter Suzanne, Joseph Abigail, Margaret John Rebensdorf, Gerald, Charles Angelica, Eileen and Meghan Joseph Parent; dear sister of the late John Mulhern, the late Daniel Mulhern, Mary Frank Teodecki, Peter Helen Mulhern and Helen Thomas Ernst; sister-in-law of Mary Mulhern and Marion Mulhern; proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Margaret had a lifelong passion for gardening. She was an active member of the Huntington Woods Seed and Sod Garden Club, and the Huntington Woods Knitting and Study Club. She worked as a teacher's aide in the Birmingham Public Schools in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Bert Edward Labadie, age 83, of Huntington Woods, died peacefully on January 6, 2014 at his home, just three days after the passing of his wife Margaret. The visitation for Margaret and Bert Labadie will be Thursday 2-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Margaret will lie in state with her husband Bert Friday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Mother of Perpetual Help-Our Lady of Fatima Church, Oak Park.
