Margie was born February 13, 1921 at Masena, Iowa, the daughter of Harley C. and Fern L. Darnold Erickson Antisdel at Masena, Iowa. She attended country school and rode her pony for transportation everywhere. She graduated from Villisca High School in Iowa. After high school, Margie attended Boyles Business College in Omaha and went to work for the headquarters of the Union Pacific Railroad. She enjoyed traveling extensively on her railroad pass during those years and met her future husband on a trip to Wyoming. She married Hugh Holwell November 9, 1947 at Omaha, NE. Following their marriage, they lived in Osage, WY for about a year while making arrangements to purchase and move the ranch to Skull Creek where they ranched for over 50 years. While on the ranch she was very active in the Skull Creek Extension Club and most community activities. She also participated actively in the ranch, working cows, calving, horseback riding, driving the tractor and other equipment while working in the fields. She enjoyed gardening, arrowhead hunting and raising animals of all kinds. Mrs. Holwell had a reputation for being able to put together a wonderful meal for a crowd on short notice. She maintained an extensive array of frozen home baked goods as well as home canned items. She was the ?official? family photographer, maintaining and cataloging a very large collection of photo albums. She was also an avid scrapbook organizer.
In later years deafness hampered her social interests, especially involving crowds, but she learned to utilize modern conveniences such as telephone for deaf and later obtained a cochlear implant with which she was doing very well. She was also communicating very effectively with her computer and enjoyed surviving the internet. She adapted to the new technical age quickly.
