Lucille Roper

February 15, 1919 — June 6, 2012

Lucille Mary Roper passed away on June 5, 2012. Born Feb. 15, 1919 in East Tawas, Michigan to George and Mary Gates, she was a 1936 graduate of St. Joseph School in East Tawas. Predeceased by sisters Helen Simonson and Gladys Pavelock, and brothers Clarence and Charles. She married Harold Roper on May 23, 1942 in Royal Oak, where they made their home. Harold passed away on January 28, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Heikkinen of Royal Oak and son Michael of Chicago, Illinois, grandchildren Sandra Heikkinen of New York City and Michael Heikkinen of Royal Oak. She is also survived by great granddaughters Kendal and Delaney Heikkinen. She volunteered for over 20 years at William Beaumont Hospital. Visitation will be Friday, June 8, from 2-8 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan and Son Funeral Home, 705 W 11 Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. A Mass will be held Saturday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower, Royal Oak.
