Louise Robb Matesi, 77, of East Newcastle, South Dakota died peacefully at her home June 15, 2006.
She was born September 10, 1928 in Pueblo, Colorado to Harry Arthur Robb and Edythe Peterson Robb. At the age of two, she and her family moved to Sunrise, Wyoming, where she grew up. She graduated from Sunrise High School in 1946 and attended University of Colorado, Boulder. In 1948, she married Seraphin Joseph Matesi. She moved to Lockport, Illinois, where she raised seven children with her husband Joseph, pharmacist and owner of Matesi Drug in Lockport. Louise and Joseph enjoyed 58 years of marriage.
She enjoyed music and the arts and was a well-read, avid reader. She was a scholar of the history of English royalty. She was active in the Episcopal Church in Lockport, Illinois until she moved to Western South Dakota, where she attended the First Baptist Church in Newcastle, Wyo. until her health prevented her. She was a selfless, strong and active influence in the lives of her children and grandchildren, and of those in need.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph, East Newcastle, South Dakota; three daughters, Beth Finkbeiner, Orinda, Ca., Meg Dowd, Albuquerque, N.M., Teresa Aughenbaugh, Denver, Colo.; three sons, Joseph Matesi, Fairbanks, Alaska, Steve Matesi, Sandwich, Illinois, Frank Matesi, Bradley, Illinois; niece Lynn Harvill, Denver, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Elva Mae Hargrave and one son, Arthur Robb Matesi.
A memorial service will be June 18, 2006 at First Baptist Church, Newcastle, Wyo. with Pastor Michael Spencer officiating. Inurnment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Pueblo, Colo.
