Louis Louie Genoff, 69, of Newcastle, WY died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 after a courageous fight with cancer.
He was born March 15, 1937 in McIntosh, South Dakota, the son of Eremio Shorty and Martha Werlinger Genoff. He attended country school and school in McIntosh. In 1954, he moved to Newcastle, Wyoming where he worked breaking horses at the Flying V Ranch. Here he met Iris McCoy, his wife of 51 years. They were married in Mobridge, South Dakota on June 11, 1955.
Louie was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and good friend. A stranger to no one, Louie eagerly helped those in need. His fun loving nature and infectious laugh brightened every room. He loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed meeting and visiting with new people. He was a skilled craftsman and a master backhoe operator. He loved woodworking and fishing. Prior to his retirement in 1996, Louie worked for Wyoming Pipeline for 32 years. He also owned and operated "Genoff Backhoe Service" for seven years. Louie also served on the Salt Creek Water District Board for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Iris, of Newcastle; three daughters, Vickie and husband Harley Greve of Wakefield, Nebraska, Cindy and husband Ed Porter of Newcastle, and Tina Genoff of Kodiak, Alaska; four grandchildren, Henry and Heath Greve, Sarah Porter, and Christy Porter Stith and husband Mike Stith; and two great-grand children, Shelby and Cody Stith. Two brothers; George Genoff of McIntosh, South Dakota, and Tony Genoff of Riverton, Wyoming, nieces and nephews, and his large extended family also survive him.
His parents, Eremio and Martha Genoff; two brothers, Joe Genoff and Mike Genoff; sister, Betty Cadwell; and infant grandson, Tyler Porter, preceded him in death.
Louie was a very sensitive, thoughtful, and caring person. He touched the lives of many and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Visitation is Thursday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Worden Funeral Home with the family present. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 15, 2006 at the Methodist Church, 23 N Seneca Avenue in Newcastle with pastors Eric Parker and Joe Spencer, and Rhonda Stearns officiating. Burial is at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle. Cake and coffee served following burial service at the Newcastle Senior Citizen Center.
Pallbearers are Wilber Lease, Dean Pridgeon, Don Gregory, Ben Morris, Dennis Fuller and Scott Sewell. Honorary pallbearers are his many friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Treasured Memories Hospice.
