Loretta Jean Taylor Burleson passed away peacefully from this world to be with her Lord and Savior on November 1, 2023, at the age of 87.
Jean was the daughter of Albert B. Taylor and Caroline Marie Beckton Taylor. She was born October 26, 1936, at the family ranch in Horton, Wyoming near Four Corners, Wyoming.
Jean attended school at Horton, Wyoming through 8th grade and was a 1955 graduate of Newcastle High School. She then attended Black Hills State College.
She married William G. Burleson on October 7, 1956, in Newcastle, Wyoming. They had two children: Connie A. Burleson Kuhn and Jim A. Burleson.
Jean had various secretarial jobs in Newcastle. Her favorite place of employment was 1st State Bank of Newcastle where she worked for several years, retiring in 2005. Jean enjoyed baking and gardening.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Bill Burleson, her parents, and her brother Richard Taylor.
Jean is survived by her significant other; Gideon Dixon, sister; Marge Taylor Bender of Casper, WY, daughter; Connie (Denny) Kuhn of Scott City, KS, son; Jim (Melinda) Burleson of Newcastle, WY, five grandchildren; Jared (Audra) Bogard of Lansing, KS, Adrian (Brady) Wheeler of Blanchard, OK, Emily (Mark) Boedeker of Lawrence, KS, Colter (Codie) Burleson of Newcastle, WY, Rory (Hannah) Burleson of Butte, MT, 12 great grandchildren; Adelaide Boedeker, Wakley, Brayton, Olivia, Ainsley Burleson, Josette, Orion, Isaac Wheeler, Maya, Ethan, Halle Bogard, and Laine Durler as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Jean will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Newcastle, Wyoming. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, followed by a gathering at the at the Methodist Church for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Weston County Manor. Services will be livestreamed.
