Lester "Del" Caldwell, age 94, a resident of Hazel Park, formerly of Farmington Hills and Royal Oak, passed away February 10, 2014 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born May 19, 1919 in Detroit to the late George and Minnie Caldwell. Del obtained his journeyman's card in tool and die and in carpentry at an early age. He worked in skilled trades at Command Tool & Die in Oak Park until his retirement. He loved listening to Irish music, cooking, golfing, reading and traveling. He was a dedicated caregiver, an inventor, a great story teller and a "true handy man". He loved spending time with his family, being up north and always had a smile on his face. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie E. Gould-Caldwell died 9/20/2006 and Dorothy "Loretta" Caldwell died 4/27/1981; loving father of Sharon the late Glenn McDonald, Thomas Joan Caldwell, Sandra Caldwell, Shirley Hikmat Atcho and the late Susan the late Dennis Sloan; proud grandfather of Shelly Steve Sapp, Katie Richard Smith, Margaret Mike Morelli, Todd Caldwell, Cheri Craig DeRoso, Jody Jim Gates, Stacey Tadgerson, Kaye Tadgerson, Steven Tadgerson, Rob Carol Wiggle, Elizabeth Wiggle, Rebecca Caldwell, Franci Kimberly Atcho, Sarah Nick Salvaggio and Melissa Ian Bedford; great grandfather of Julian Emily DiCesare, Joseph DiCesare, Amanda Sapp, Alex Sapp, Megan Sapp, Hannah McDonald-Carroll, Aidan Smith, Kaylee DeRoso, Ryan DeRoso, Hunter Gates, Tyler Staup, Steven Tadgerson, Olivia Tadgerson, Zachary Wiggle, Victoria Wiggle, Abigail Wiggle, Abagail Atcho, Amelia Atcho and Kaleb Bedford; dear brother of the late Esther Arthur Hazelwood both died 1978, Agnes Caldwell died as an infant, George Elmer Louella Caldwell George died 1977, Leo Caldwell died as an infant, Francis Joseph Caldwell died 1971, Stanley Norman Mary Caldwell Stanley died 1978, Robert William Bernice Caldwell Robert died 1980, Ernest Richard Caldwell died 1968 and Dorothy Eleanore Howard Cosway Dorothy died 1981. The visitation will be Saturday 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 5 p.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak.
