Graveside services for Newcastle resident, Leroy M. Gorsuch, 69, will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 24th at Fairburn Cemetery, Fairburn, South Dakota with Pastor Mick Bohn of Newcastle Foursquare Church officiating. Burial is under the direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle, Wyoming. Persons wishing to pay their respects may do so at Worden Chapel on Tuesday, May 23rd from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Roy was born December 8, 1936 at Edgemont, South Dakota the son of Raymond and May Nilssen Gorsuch. He was raised and educated at Fairburn, South Dakota and was married November 16, 1958 to Janice Bonsell. The couple moved to Rozet, Wyoming for a short while before moving to Newcastle to make their permanent home. Roy drove for Johnston Fuel Liners and Dixon Brothers ultimately buying his own trucks. Mr. Gorusch was also employed in the logging business with Jack Smith throughout the Black Hills, and worked road construction allowing his family to move with him to wherever the work took him. He served in the U. S. Navy, being discharged in 1962.
Leroy loved to fish, and was a voracious reader of all kinds of literature.
Mr. Gorsuch died following a lengthy illness on May 18th at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle.
Survivors include his wife Janice, daughter Tresa Bandalos of Guernsey, Wyoming; brother David Gorsuch of Rapid City; sister Ema Harbor of Montrose, Colorado; and two grandchildren, Cara and Jason Bandalos.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and three sisters, Edyth, Ethel and Evelyn.
