Morrison, Leonard, L. Jr., age 84, of Oakland Township passed away November 7, 2013. Beloved companion of Martha Kent. Dear father of Patricia L. Pell, Linda John Banas, Mark Morrison and Lisa Ted Higgins. Dear Step-father of Dennis Shannon Kent and David Cindy Kent. Dear brother of Donald Trudy Morrison. Proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren; Natalie, Ashley, Kevin, Stephen, Erica, Nicole, Katy, Adam, Matthew, Caleb, Olivia and Devin. Proud great grandfather of 4 great grandchildren; Riann, Callie, Landon and Lillian. Leonard dedicated his life to education and helping others strive for knowledge. He was president of the Utica High School graduating class of 1948 and later received his MBA as an Education Specialist, served in the Adrian Alumni Association and was an ATO Fraternity member. He was proud to belong to the group, "The Boys Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club" and earned highest honor as Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He started teaching at Wiley Elementary School and graduated to being the first principal at both Sterling Elementary in 1955 and Morgan Elementary in 1966. He was Director of Elementary Curriculum at UCS and served as a member of Michigan State Supervision & Curriculum as well as Michigan Elementary Principals. After all his loyal years as an educator of young minds, Leonard retired as School Administrator of Utica Community Schools. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Monday at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. 3 blks. E. of Van Dyke Utica. Visitation 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
