Funeral services for Leona M. Moore, 85, formerly of Upton, Wyoming will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 18th at First Baptist Church in Upton with Pastor Randy Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery near Upton under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle. Visitation will also be Wednesday at the church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The family prefers memorial contributions to the Sundance Assisted Living Center in lieu of flowers.
Leona went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 15th at Pioneer Manor in Gillette. She had only been there 3 days. Previously she had lived at Sundance Assisted Living for several years. She was born Leona Mae Conley to Arthur James and Della M. Ashe Conley, at Chadron, Nebraska on February 19, 1921. Her brother Clifford was the love of her life. She attended Crook County schools and later married William ?Bill? Ellis. They had 3 children, Joan, Wanda and Billy. On June 26, 1943 she married Roy N. Thompson and they lived on a ranch until November of 1960. They moved to Upton. Betty Ann was born to this union. He {Roy} had three older children, Marjorie, Frank, and Jack. Roy died in September 11 1964. On November 14, 1965 she married Henry Max Moore. He had 3 small children; Don, Richard and Sharon.
Leona devoted most of her life to working hard on a ranch and her family. She also spent many hours doing for others and attending to affairs with the Church and God. She spent many years teaching Sunday school. She touched the lived of so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Betty Mc Neff and son Billy Ellis; Stepsons Jack and Frank Thompson & Richard and Don Moore.
Surviving her are her daughters Joan McCoy and Wanda Duane Butcher all of Gillette; daughter in law Carol Ann Ellis of Moorcroft; son in law Gale Mc Neff of Thermopolis. Step daughters Sharon Rick Donner of Upton, Marjorie Johnson and Darlene Thompson both of Anderson Island, WA. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren plus nieces and nephews. She loved and raised all of her extended family the same as her own.
