Funeral services for LaVar James Kenney age 64, will be held at Worden's Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. with Bill Haley and Charles Dutcher officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009 at Worden's Funeral Home in Newcastle.
LaVar died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in Cheyenne, Wyoming from a heart attack. LaVar is survived in death by his Son Robert James Kenney Trisha; Grandchildren Megan and Dillon, Son Chris Kenney Raimee; Grandchildren Austen and Moriahn; People whom he also loved and considered family Frank and Eileen Toth; Troy and Nocona Toth and Grandchildren Dawson and Brylee Toth all of Newcastle. LaVar was preceded in death by his mother and father.
LaVar was born in Tooele, UT on October 13, 1945 to Ranger and Iona Cowdell Kenney. He had two brothers and three sisters; Roy, Wayne, Leona, Reva and Arlene. He attended school in Utah.
LaVar moved to Newcastle in 1980 with his family. He was later divorced. Throughout his life he had various jobs consisting of being an oil field worker, ranch hand/cowboy, a cement hauler, and a truck driver. Currently he was working for Weeg and Bradford Trucking as their truck boss and as a truck driver. LaVar had to overcome much diversity throughout his life and in spite of those diversities he excelled at all he did.
LaVar didn't know a stranger. You couldn't help but enjoy his company. He had a special twinkle in his eyes and a heart of gold. LaVar was a devoted family man and anyone who knew him knew the love he had for his friend Eileen and for his grandchildren, the mere mention of their names brought a smile to his face.
LaVar also enjoyed spending his time hunting, riding horses, working in his yard, riding his motorcycle and 4-wheeler with Eileen and his grandkids, playing cards, taking an afternoon nap and most of all spending time with his family. Those who truly knew LaVar could look into his big blue eyes and find the most caring, compassionate, loving heart imaginable. He would give you all of his love if you were willing to accept it. If you were lucky enough to have LaVar as part of your life then you realize that your heart will never be able to forget him.
Pallbearers will be Robert Kenney, Chris Kenney, Frank Toth, Troy Toth, Brian Weeg, and Benny Hobbs. Honorary pallbearers are all of his friends and co-workers.
