Kathleen M. LaPonsey, age 92, a resident of Royal Oak since 1947, died March 14, 2012 at Clare Bridge of Utica. She was born April 26, 1919 in Jackson, MI to the late William and Madeline Bourke. Mrs. LaPonsey attended Cranbrook, Wayne State University and the University of Vienna, Austria. She graduated from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Jackson in 1942. She was a member of the Michigan Nurses Association since 1942, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists since 1943, American Red Cross since 1943, American Legion Post #253 in Royal Oak, Canadian Legion Post #84 in Royal Oak, Audubon Society, Detroit Zoological Society, Michigan Humane Society, Shrine Ladies Guild, Royal Oak Historical Society, Royal Oak Historical Guild and Fr. Solanus Guild. She was also a member and a past president of the Troy Lions Club. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Housler, Marc Dedenbach and Scott Dedenbach; and five grandchildren. The visitation will be Friday 3-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. scripture service at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blks. E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mrs. LaPonsey will lie in state Saturday 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 10 a.m. at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak.
