Memorial services for former Newcastle resident, Katherine L. Katy Lou Winter, 72, will be held at 3:30 pm Tuesday, April 10th at the Newcastle Seniors? Center with Pastors Charles Dutcher and Bill Haley officiating. Private burial services will take place at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to Festival of Hope, 3700 Avenue B., Scottsbluff, NE 64361. Cremation has taken place under direction of Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle.
Mrs. Winter died Friday, March 23rd at Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyoming following an illness of cancer.
Katherine was born March 3, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of James A. and Nell K Palis Russell. She was a 1953 graduate of Newcastle Wyoming High School. She married Delmar Winter in 1955, they were later divorced.
She was a member of Job?s Daughters and was a Past Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter # 30, Newcastle, Wyoming.
Survivors include her two sons; Jeff Alice Winter of Wisconsin and Craig Joleen Winter of Gillette; daughter Kris Rex Shaw of Newcastle; brother Bill Lynda Russell of Newcastle; sister Mary Chuck Lee of Oregon. Also surviving are a step-son Joe A. Deb Smith of Gillette; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, parents, and one son Jamie Winter
