D'Hondt, Julian, age 97 resident of Troy since 1944, died January 22, 2012 at his Troy home. He was born August 24, 1914 to Julius and Mary nee Vandenbroucke D'Hondt in Detroit, Michigan. He married Lea on February 1, 1939 at St. John Catholic Church, Allenton, MI. Julian owned and operated his farm in Troy on Long Lake Road with his late wife Lea. The D'Hondt farm was the last surviving operating farm in the City of Troy. He is survived by his daughter Janet Roger DeGreef, grandchildren: Tammy Ken Alexy, Diane Jim Nantais, and John Anita Fleur; and great grandchildren: Amanda Nantais, Nick Fleur, and Brittany Nantais. Also survived by his siblings: Margaret Cornelli, Madelyn Martin, Elsie Delmotte, Evelyn Sucaet, and Lawrence DeHondt. Preceded in death by his wife Lea, brothers Remi and Clarence, and sister Marion Vansteenkist. Family will receive friends Thursday 1:00pm-9:00pm with a scripture service at 7:00pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road 3 blks east of Van Dyke Utica. Friday in state at 9:00am until time of funeral mass 9:30am St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 4571 John R, Troy.
