WRUBEL, John. age 89, former resident of Detroit, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006. He was born September 22, 1917, in Stambaugh, Michigan. John retired after 30 years as a yard conductor with Grand Truck Railroad. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0303 of Grosse Pointe and VFW Post #1146. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an advocate and supporter of Notre Dame High School. He is survived by his children, Marie Louise Jeffrey Paxton and Gregory John Nancy Wrubel; Brother of Edward Poppy Preznar of Garden, Michigan, the late Ella Rochefort, and the late Wilma Holmgren. Proud grandfather of Gina Marie David McCormick, Richard, John, and James "Texas" Wrubel; great grandchildren Ryan T. and Gracie R. McCormick. Many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabel "Betty" Wrubel and grandson, Jeffrey Piscopo. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road, Utica with the Reverend Dale Hunter officiating. Burial will take place in Utica Cemetery, Utica, Michigan.
