John Goddard

John David Dave Goddard, 73 of Shelby Twp., passed away July 20, 2013 at his home with his wife and family at his side. Dave was born November 28, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Christopher and Janneke Goddard. He graduated from Royal Oak High School and earned his degree in Insurance Law and Real Estate from Michigan State University in 1961. He was the owner of Goddard & Goddard Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for the past 32 years. He remained very active in the day to day operation up until his death. He will be greatly missed by the community and the many friendships he gleaned from his years in business. Dave loved to play golf and was an avid tennis player for many years. He enjoyed reading about the Civil War and doing crossword puzzles in pencil. He enjoyed listening to music and loved being with his friends and family.
Dave is survived by his wife Karen Faye Winright Goddard of almost thirty two years, his daughter and love of his life, Amanda Kaye Goddard, three sons, Christopher Liz Goddard, Timothy Goddard and Michael Goddard. Brother Murk Goddard, and best friend and Karen's helper, Ric Lynda Gosk. He was pre-deceased by his parents and two brothers Philip Goddard and Hillary Goddard.
Friends may visit at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. 3 blks. E. of Van Dyke Utica on Monday, July 22 from 1-4pm and 6-8pm with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. Christian Funeral Service Tuesday, July 23 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 53246 Van Dyke, Shelby Twp. where friends may visit from 10 am until 11 am time of service. Rev. Galen E. Grulke, Dave's brother in law, of Heart of the Shepherd Lutheran Church, Howell, MI. will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to New Hope United Methodist Church.
