John Robert George Sr., age 66, a resident of Royal Oak for the last six years, formerly of White Lake and Ferndale, died October 27, 2012 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born April 30, 1946 in Detroit to the late Charles and Margaret George. Mr. George was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He was a self-employed maintenance contractor. He loved his pets, and enjoyed bowling and tinkering. He is survived by his wife, Loraine George nee Schoettle; the couple married October 24, 1997 in Bloomfield Township; children, John Natalie George Jr., Matthew George, April Kevin Adelson, Diane Shires, Daniel Colleen Shires and James Monica Shires; brother, Charles George; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a large extended family. The visitation will be Thursday 2-8 p.m., with a 5 p.m. scripture service, at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E of Woodward, Royal Oak. Mr. George will lie in state Friday 10 a.m. until the time of Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Columban Catholic Church in Birmingham, with the Rev. Donald Demmer officiating.
