John Dunder

March 27, 1937 — September 19, 2008

A memorial celebration of life with coffee and conversation for John F. Dunder, 71, of Newcastle will be held Thursday, September 25th at 2:00 pm at the Newcastle Senior Center. Burial of cremains will be private. Worden Funeral Directors of Newcastle are in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to either the Cancer Society or Wyoming Public Radio.

Mr. Dunder died Friday, September 19th at Rapid Regional Hospital.

John was born March 27, 1937 in Laramie, Wyoming the son of Clarence John and Dorothy nee Rath Dunder. As a child he has raised in Laramie where he attended University Prep School and the University of Wyoming for two years. He then enlisted in the U. S. Navy from 1960 to 1963.

Mr. Dunder was the manager of the Cheyenne Steam Laundry until it closed. He then moved to Newcastle where he purchased the C & M Laundry and ran the Horton House for a short time. He was currently unmarried. John belonged to and was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge # 52 of Laramie. In Cheyenne he was a member of the Moose Lodge and PWP Parents Without Partners. In Newcastle he was a member of a food coop, an active member of Newcastle Senior Services, serving on the Board of Directors for Several terms. He was also an instructor of the A.A.R.P. 55 Alive driving program.
John was always willing to help as a good friend. He was an avid bicyclist, riding the Mickleson Trail several times, loved to read, enjoyed history and spending time outdoors. He loved his dog Nikki.

John was preceded in death by his son John F. Dunder, Jr. and his parents Clarence and Dorothy. He is survived by his children Mary J. and Mike Dunder of Cheyenne, Wyoming, his step children, Deanna Williamson of Texas and Ben Sandy of Nebraska; his sister Clarine Dunder of Laramie and his very good friend Joyce Grubbs of Newcastle.
