John J. Bush, Jr., age 57, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010 surrounded by his loving family at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Beloved son of John and Eileen Bush, John was born and raised in Royal Oak. He was a long time resident of Ann Arbor and spent the last year of his illness living in his childhood home. A graduate of Bishop Foley Catholic High School in Madison Heights, John received an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University, followed by a graduate engineering degree from the University of Michigan. He continued his education throughout his professional life, going on to receive an MBA. In his youth, John served as an altar boy at St. Dennis Parish, caddied at Red Run Golf Course and spent summers during his college years working with his brother Ralph for Leonard Brothers Moving & Storage Company. John worked at Ford Motor Company as a Climate Control Engineer, and through reorganization continued his career with Visteon. He retired from Visteon in April of 2007. His varied interests included running, cycling, photography and reading. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed golf outings with friends. He devoted time and energy to family even during his illness. John was a member of conservation and nature organizations, many professional organizations and supported numerous charities. John is survived by his mother, Eileen Bush; seven sisters and brothers, Elaine Bush of Kaleva, MI, Ralph Tammy Bush of Sterling Heights, Mary Bush of Royal Oak, Chuck Julie Bush of Houston, TX, Margaret Mike McNally of Hamburg, MI, Liz Todd Cunningham of Rochester Hills and Kate Pete Pultz of Royal Oak; 13 nieces and nephews; and one great-niece. He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Bush, in 2001. Memorial visitation will be on Sunday, April 11, 4-7 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road 4 blocks E. of Woodward, Royal Oak. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 12 at St. Dennis Parish, 2200 E. 12 Mile Road, Royal Oak.
