John Edward Albee, age 86, a 51-year resident of Rochester, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He was born October 28, 1922, in Portland, OR. Mr. Albee retired from Chrysler as an engineer after 20 years of service. He received his BS degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Colorado. He was a U.S. Navy lieutenant during World War II. He loved electronics, especially tinkering and building radios, and also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his children, Stewart R. Albee of Dallas, GA and Louise A. Gary Miller of Metamora; and grandchildren, Jason Miller, Brian Miller and Jamie Albee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth B. Dickman Albee, on December 19, 1982; daughter, Barbara J. Albee; parents, Ray and Hulda Albee; and daughter-in-law, Sydney Albee. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit.
