Joe Podio was born to Joseph & Theresa Podio in 1906 in Coal City, Illinois. Joe was the fourth child of six children. When Joe was four years old they moved to Cambria, Wyoming. Joe's dad worked in the coal mines. The family moved to a farm at Four Corners, Wyoming in 1920.
In 1939 Joe married Leota B. Wocicki and built a home on the farm at Four Corners. From this marriage three children were born, Joe, Shirley and Bob. Joe drove school bus to town, farmed and played the accordian for dances at Four Corners.
The family moved to Newcastle in 1963. Joe worked as a janitor at the high school and later retired. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, and the Retired Teachers Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents, all of his brothers and sisters and his wife Leota. He is survived by three children; Joe Marie Podio of Newcastle, WY, Shirley Gideon Dixon of Newcastle and Robert Blanche Podio of Pueblo, Colorado. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
